Love and Gratitude in The Living Scale — Yves Ruhlmann

Love and Gratitude in The Living Scale is a variation of the work Love and Gratitude, entirely recomposed by Yves Ruhlmann.

The original version was carried by the orchestra of the Sofia Session Orchestra & Choir. As classical orchestral instruments are tuned to equal temperament, this variation takes up the work in a realisation where the orchestra itself espouses the natural tuning of The Living Scale. It was born from Yves Ruhlmann’s encounter with Christophe Clergue, creator of the ShinVav Audio loudspeakers.

Notes on the work

The Living Scale — one of the three foundations of Symphoniya’s work — rests on a natural tuning. For the original version of Love and Gratitude, recorded with the Sofia musicians, the orchestra followed equal temperament, as classical instruments require.

This variation takes up the work in a realisation entirely carried by natural tuning, down to the orchestra. Yves Ruhlmann recomposed it to this end, following his encounter, in 2025, with Christophe Clergue, creator of the ShinVav Audio loudspeakers, on which it was tested.

A variation

This version proceeds from the work Love and Gratitude, whose material and duration it takes up.
