Franco-Swiss composer, creator of Transe Symphonic, founder of Symphoniya.
A Franco-Swiss composer born in 1983, Yves Ruhlmann is the creator of Transe Symphonic — an orchestral writing he conceives as a sound cathedral in service of consciousness — and the founder of Symphoniya, a universe dedicated to Music and Consciousness, established since 2023 in the Vallée de Joux, Switzerland. In 2024, he recorded Love and Gratitude in Sofia, conducting the Sofia Session Orchestra & Choir, whose musicians come from the finest orchestras and choirs in Bulgaria; the work, dedicated to the research of Dr Masaru Emoto, was presented in Japan at the World Water Festival 2024 in Aso, before some two thousand spectators. His first Transe Symphonic concerto, Mater Lucis, for violin, orchestra and choir, is expected in late 2026.
Self-taught in spirit, he passed through some of Europe’s great musical institutions. At Université Lumière Lyon 2, where he earned a bachelor’s degree and then a first-year master’s in musicology, Gérard Streletski premiered his first orchestral works with the Ensemble orchestral Lyon 2 (2004-2006); at the Conservatoire de Lyon, he studied harmony and counterpoint (harmony prize, 2008). That same year, at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, he attended the film music class of Luis Bacalov, Oscar winner for Il Postino, who awarded him a merit scholarship and himself recorded his Romanza Italiana at the piano. He went on to study composition with Luca Salvadori at the Conservatorio Licinio Refice in Frosinone; in 2012, he was selected for Pierre Adenot’s master class at the Festival International du Film d’Aubagne and admitted by competitive examination to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon, where he studied composition for the screen. In 2014, Éric de Chassey welcomed him as a guest at the Académie de France à Rome – Villa Médicis, where he worked on the Marian piece that would become Mater Lucis.
His works have been commissioned, notably by the chamber orchestra Arcus-Caeli for its twenty-fifth anniversary (Geneva, 2013) and, with the support of the Fédération des sociétés de musique d’Alsace and the Mulhouse-Sundgau music association, the Symphonie concertante pour peintures et orchestre, inspired by four paintings by Robert Breitwieser and premiered in Altkirch in 2015 by the Orchestre d’harmonie des jeunes Mulhouse-Sundgau under the direction of Dominique D’Agostin. He wrote Tra il Cello e la Terra on commission from Gilda Buttà and Luca Pincini, soloists of Ennio Morricone, and played viola in the United Nations Orchestra in Geneva.
Since 2008, he has pursued research into the genesis of musical language, from which Musique Code Cantique, Transe Symphonic and The Living Scale were born; he gathers eighteen years of it in a forthcoming book, 1093, la Genèse du langage musical. A certified Hado Instructor of the Office Masaru Emoto (Tokyo, 2017), he gave lecture-concerts in Switzerland in 2019 with Michiko Hayashi, director of the Emoto Peace Project. In 2022, forty singers of the Sofia Session Choir, conducted by Georgi Elenkov, recorded his polyphonic chants; in 2025, he premiered Blessing of Love in Lausanne, leading an ensemble of ten musicians.
